Rasool

An afternoon trip to the candy store in Baghdad, Iraq changed this seven year-old's life forever. A bullet destroyed one of his eyes and severely damaged the other, leaving him with only a trace of eyesight. St. Louis Children's Hospital and eye surgeon, Dr. Gregg Lueder, donated the evaluations and surgeries Rasool desperately needed to regain some of his eyesight. It was a lengthy recovery process and HTC is thankful for the language and cultural support received from the local Iraqi community. Rasool returned to Baghdad with much-improved sight in his existing eye. There is also hope that the other eye can be evaluated for placement of a prosthetic eye after a few more years of growth.
